Critically acclaimed mangaka Naoki Urasawa drew a new poster in anticipation of the Manga Barcelona event that’ll take place between December 5-8. The poster features the main characters from multiple series Urasawa wrote, standing in front of the famous Sagrada Familia. Some of these series that the characters hail from are 20th Century Boys, Monster, Happy!, Billy Bat, Asadora, and Yawara!.

Urasawa was named this year’s “Mangaka of Honor” at Manga Barcelona. This isn’t the first time Urasawa drew an official poster. In 2020, he was even given the opportunity to make one for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Most recently, his popular manga Pluto received an anime adaptation that’s currently available to watch on Netflix.

Manga Barcelona is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and will take place in Barcelona, Spain where many famous names in the industry will be in attendance. The full guest list of manga and anime professionals at the moment includes:

  • Akasaka Asa (Kaguya-sama: Love is War)
  • Yokoyari Mengo (Oshi no Ko – artist)

  • Number8 (Blue Giant – film’s screenplay)
  • Yuka Fujikawa (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – manga)
  • Takeshi Kawaguchi (Fate/Grand Order-Turas Réalta – manga)
  • Juan Albarrán (Matagi Gunner)
  • Carles Dalmau (Lucid Lucy)
  • Sunghoo Park (Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 – director)
  • Hiroshi Nagahama (Uzukami anime – director)
  • Yann Le Gall (studio E&H Production – art director)

30 Manga Barcelona will also have a nice lineup of music guests that include the famous band BURNOUT SYNDROMES (Haikyuu!, Dr. Stone) along with Maki Otsuki (One Piece), Kazuso Oda (Coda) (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure), PSYCHIC FEVER from EXILE TRIBE, and Misty. (both lists will continue to be updated with new announcements)

Manga Barcelona recorded over 165.000 visitors in 2023 along with 272 exhibitors, 24 special guests, 24 meet and greets, 78 workshops, and 50 conferences. So expect much more for this year’s 30th anniversary. Tickets for Manga Barcelona’s 30th Anniversary event are currently on sale.
